Rodney The Little Hero
Long long time ago, in a quiet village surrounded by green fields and tall trees, there lived a cheerful boy named Rodney. He enjoyed simple days with his family, helping his parents and playing with his neighbors. Life in the village was peaceful—until one year when everything changed. The rains stopped, and week after week the sky stayed sunny and hot. Soon, the village faced a terrible drought.
The land grew dry and cracked. Farmers watched their crops wither. Animals became weak from thirst, and even the strong old trees lost their leaves. The stream that the villagers depended on shrank until only a trickle of water remained. Everyone became worried and hopeless.
One night, as the villagers gathered to discuss what to do, Rodney stood up and spoke. “I remember old stories,” he said. “Stories about a hidden river deep under the ground. Maybe we can dig and find it before it’s too late.”
The villagers were unsure, but they trusted Rodney’s courage. The next morning, everyone gathered tools and began digging. For days, they worked together under the hot sun. But the ground was hard, and no water appeared. Little by little, people grew tired and discouraged. Finally, they gave up.
Everyone except Rodney.
“I won’t stop,” he said firmly. “I believe the water is there. We must keep trying.”
Every day, Rodney returned to the digging site. He worked from morning until sunset, even when his arms ached and his clothes were dusty. Still, he refused to give up.
Then, one bright afternoon, Rodney’s shovel hit soft, wet soil. Moments later, clear water burst from the ground. Rodney shouted with joy as the villagers rushed over.
Water! At last!
The village was saved because one boy didn’t stop trying.
Rodney smiled and said, “Never give up too soon. Keep going, even when it’s hard.”
