Use : Past Continuous Tense is used to talk about the action that was happening at a specific time in the past.

Past Time expressions

  • at 10 last night
  • this time yesterday
  • at  8 this morning

Positive : Sub + was/were + Ving....

  • I was sleeping at 10 last night.
  • Students were studying this time yesterday.
  • At 8 this morning, my dad was watering the plants.
  • They were playing soccer at 2 yesterday.
  • My mom was cooking breakfast at 6 this morning.
  • This time yesterday, I was teaching in the class.
  • The sun was shining brightly yesterday morning.

Negative :  Sub + wasn't / weren't + Ving...

  • I was sleeping at 10 last night.
  • Students were studying this time yesterday.
  • At 8 this morning, my dad was watering the plants.

Yes/No : Was/were + Sub + Ving...?

  • Were you sleeping at 10 last night?
