Types of events

concert: A live music show where musicians play songs.

Ex. We went to a concert to hear our favorite band play songs.

play : A performance of a story on stage (the actors act).

Ex.  The school put on a play about a brave knight.

movie : A film shown in a cinema or on a screen.

Ex.  We watched a funny movie last night.

exhibit: A display of things for people to look at, like at a museum.

Ex.  The science museum has an exhibit about space.

game: An activity with rules to have fun or win points.

Ex.  We played a board game after dinner.

performance: When someone shows their talent on stage, like singing or dancing.

Ex.  The dancers gave an amazing performance.

talk: A short speech or discussion where someone shares ideas.

Ex.  The author gave a talk about writing tips.

circus: A traveling show with clowns, animals, and acrobats.

Ex.  The circus comes to town every summer.

seminar: A class or meeting where people learn about a specific topic.

Ex.  We attended a seminar on healthy living.

charity: Help given to people in need, usually: money, food, or clothes.

Ex.  The charity collected toys for children at Christmas.

Words to describe events and entertainment

entertainment : Things that someone does to have fun or be amused.

Ex.  The concert and movie were great entertainment for the weekend.

entertain : To provide fun or amusement for others.

Ex.  He tells funny stories to entertain his friends.

event: Something that happens, often planned like a party or concert.

Ex.  The school is hosting a charity event next Friday.

opinion : A personal idea or belief about something.

Ex.  My opinion is that the movie was too long.

survey : A set of questions to learn what many people think.

Ex.  We did a short survey to find out which snacks people like.

Ex. Want to go hiking tomorrow? – I’m in!

same here: I feel the same way or agree.

Ex.  I love spicy food. – Same here!
