🟢 Present Perfect
Structure:
have/has + past participle
When to use:
- Actions that started in the past and continue now
- Life experiences (no specific time)
- Recent actions with present results
- With "since" and "for"
Examples:
- I have lived here for 5 years.
- She has visited Paris.
- We have just finished dinner.
🔵 Simple Past
Structure:
verb + -ed (or irregular past form)
When to use:
- Completed actions at specific times
- Past habits or states
- Sequence of past events
- With time expressions (yesterday, last week, etc.)
Examples:
- I moved here in 2020.
- She visited Paris last summer.
- We finished dinner at 8 PM.
