My village in Cambodia

My Village in Cambodia

Hello! My name is Sovath. Now let me tell you about my village. My family and I live in a small village in Cambodia. It is located in south of Phnom Penh city. It is about 70 kilometers from the capital city and it takes around half an hour by car or motorbike along National Road number 3. My village is called Phum Tropang Run in Tramkak District, Oudomsoriya Commune, Takeo province. My village is beautiful, peaceful and quiet. People in my village are kind and friendly. They always help each other when someone needs help.

There are many houses in my village. Some houses are wooden and built on stilts and some others are built from concrete and bricks. There are also plenty of paths and roads connecting with each other. There are tall palm trees, green gardens and large rice fields surrounding my village. Many farmers grow rice and other crops such as cucumbers, watermelons, pumpkins, corns and many others. Some villagers raise chickens, ducks, and cows. Other people catch fish in the river or sell food at the local market.

Ang Chhuk Primary School

There is a primary school in my village. It is called Ang Chhuk Primary School. Every morning, many children go to school. Some kids walk to school, some ride their bicycles and some others are taken by their parents. Students study Khmer, mathematics, drawing, social studies, applied science, and some others. The school starts at 7 : 00 a.m in the morning and finishes at 11: 00 a,m. Students have a few breaks before leaving.

Ang Chhuk Pagoda

There is also a pagoda in my village. It is named Wat Ang Chhuk or Ang Chhuk pagoda. It is near the primary school. People go there to pray and take part in religious activities. During special festivals, such as Pchum Ben, Water Festival, Kathin, Khmer New Year and many other festivals, families visit the pagoda, share food, and spend time together. These activities help us keep our traditions and culture alive. People also pray for peace and prosperity for their family and country.

The villagers are friendly, helpful and hardworking. They work in the rice fields, sell products at the local market, Angtasom Market, and take care of their families. In the evening, some people sit outside their houses and talk with their neighbors. Children play together while adults share stories about their daily lives.

I love my village because it is peaceful, beautiful, and full of friendly people. I am happy to live here, and I am proud of my village.
