Active Vs Passive Voice 

There are two essential in English which are active and passive voices. In active voice the subject does the action , for example, Tom kicks a ball. The subject Tom does the action "kick" and "ball" is the object that receives the action from the subject, Tom. In this post we will explore the use of passive voice in past, present and future.

Uses of Passive Voice

1. Doer of the action is unknown.
2. When We don’t want to mention the doer. 
3. When we want to focus on the result.
4. In passive voice, the subject receives the action.

Forms 

Present passive voice

[ Sub + am/is/are + V3...by...]

Past Passive Voice 

[ Sub + was/were + V3.....by.....]

Future passive voice

[ Sub + will + be + V3.....by.... ]

Present Simple Passive Voice

• More trees are grown every year.
• Meals are prepared by my mom.
• Students are taught at school.
• Angkor Wat temple is visited by many tourists every day.

Present Perfect Passive Voice [ Sub + have/has + been + V3.......] 

• Many trees have been planted.
• People have been warned about the storm.
• Crops have been harvested since last month.
• A lot of English lessons have been posted on this website.

Present Continuous Passive Voice [ Sub +am/is/are + being + V3.......] 

• A lot trees are being planted every day.
• A lot of pictures are being painted by Roza.
• Kids are being taught at school.
• Plants are being watered by my mom right now.

Future Passive Voice

• A lot of trees will be planted next year.
• More videos will be uploaded to this channel.
• 1 million scientists will be sent to Mars.
• More highways will be constructed in Cambodia.

Exercise 1

Rewrite the sentences in the present simple passive voice.
